School Is Back. Opportunity Is Too! — July 2026
The new school year is here, and so is a fresh wave of opportunity. From launching Arizona’s first Recycling & Refurbished Electronics specialty plate to summer techies who logged hundreds of hands-on hours, experiences at Phoenix College and Rio Salado, and a life-changing distribution, here’s everything that happened at AZ StRUT this month.
Help Launch AZ StRUT’s Specialty Plate!
AZ StRUT is introducing Arizona’s Recycling & Refurbished Electronics specialty plate to fund e-waste recycling, refurbished technology access, and education initiatives across the state. We need to reach a $32,000 implementation goal before ADOT can begin issuing plates, and annual renewal donations will provide ongoing support.

- Keep electronics out of Arizona landfills through responsible recycling
- Refurbish devices for residents who need reliable technology
- Support STEM education and workforce-development programs
Summer Techie Experiences Inspire Future Innovators
Four high school volunteers brought their technical skills and passion to our warehouse this summer, sorting, troubleshooting, and preparing electronics for Arizonans who need them.

Students Get Hands-On at Phoenix College
Sixty students took part in three Hardware Techie Experience sessions with the Legacy Foundation at Phoenix College, receiving laptops and diving into interactive computer-disassembly demonstrations.
Distribution of the Month
Emilia needed a computer that met the requirements for a new remote job. AZ StRUT provided a laptop and monitor, helping her start her new position, maintain housing stability, and move toward a brighter future.

Learning Starts with the Right Tools
Students in Rio Salado College’s Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certificate Program (MNCP) took part in a Hardware Techie Experience and received refurbished laptops to support their coursework and career preparation.
