Common questions

The receipt email never arrived
It sends within a minute or two of submitting. Check your spam or promotions folder and search for AZ StRUT — that is where it usually is. If it still is not there, the email address may have had a typo in it. Email info@azstrut.org with your name, the drop-off date, and the location, and we will re-send it.
I need another copy of a receipt
Email info@azstrut.org or call (480) 222-4066 with the name the receipt was issued to and roughly when you dropped off. We keep a record of every receipt and can send it again.
It says “Session Expired”
The form stays open for a limited time after you scan, so nobody can bookmark it and issue receipts later. Just scan the QR code at the counter again to start fresh. If you have already left the store, contact us and we will create the receipt for you.
It says “Scan to Start”
That means the page was opened without a scan — a saved link or a typed address will land here. Scan the code on the AZ StRUT card at the drop-off counter to open the form.
The QR code will not open
Open your phone’s camera app, hold it steady 6–8 inches from the code in good light, and tap the banner that appears. On older phones you may need a free QR reader app. A store team member can also point you to the card, or you can ask us for a link directly.
What value should I put on my items?
That is up to you — the IRS requires the donor to determine fair market value for non-cash gifts, and AZ StRUT is not permitted to assign one for you. The value field is optional; leaving it blank still produces a valid itemized receipt. For total non-cash gifts over $5,000 you will generally also need IRS Form 8283 with a qualified appraisal.
Is AZ StRUT a 501(c)(3)?
Yes. Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology (AZ StRUT) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our EIN is 86-0977732, and it is printed on every receipt. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your donation.
What can I donate, and where?
Most computers, monitors, phones, tablets, printers, networking gear, and cables are accepted. Partner stores take trunk-sized loads; our Tempe facility takes any quantity with no appointment. See Where to Donate for the full map, and note that vapes and e-cigarettes are no longer accepted anywhere.
